  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

A 46-year-old woman visited our hospital with cmplaints of abdominal tumor, weight loss and severe anemia. With double contrast study of the small bowel, a large tumor was found at the proximal jejunum. Radiologically, the tumor showed several specific features as indicated below:

 1) The tumor grew mainly extraluminally and protruded to the jejunum intraluminally in some portions.

 2) The tumor occupied half of the jejunal lumen and had an irregular-shaped ulceration on top of it.

 3) Surrounding mucosal folds were visible only with a sign of external compression.

 4) Evidences of constriction and oral duodenal dilatation were not able to be found.

These radiological signs easily led to its diagnosis as jejunal non-epithelial tumor, and the size of the tumor suggested malignant degeneration. Detection of the type of malignancy were not able to be done by radiology though. Finally, histology of the tumor resulted as malignant schwannoma.
