Treatment Strategy (Including Staging Diagnosis) of Linitis Plastica-type Gastric Cancer

要旨　linitis plastica（LP）型胃癌は早期発見が困難であり，発育や進展が速いため外科的切除術後の予後は不良と言われている．また，腹膜転移を来しやすく，腸閉塞，水腎症，腹水，閉塞性黄疸のために全身状態が不良となり，臨床試験の対象から外れることが多いため，標準治療が定まっていないのが現状である．そのため，LP型胃癌治療は，患者個々の全身状態や病態に応じた治療戦略を構築することが重要である．

　linitis plastica-type (LP-type) gastric cancer is associated with a poor prognosis because its early detection is difficult and growth and progress are rapid. Moreover, LP-type gastric cancer frequently causes bowel obstruction, hydronephrosis, ascites, and obstructive jaundice through peritoneum metastasis. Because a standard treatment for LP-type gastric cancer with a complicated medical condition has not been established, the treatment strategy according to the individual patient's condition is important in medical practice.
