Mallory-Weiss Syndrome

要旨　消化管出血で来院した患者で，繰り返し嘔吐しているうちに吐血を来した場合には，本症候群の可能性が高い．早急に内視鏡検査を施行して診断を確定し，止血が必要であれば確実に施行することが重要である．

　The classic presentation of Mallory-Weiss syndrome is that of repeated vomiting with increasing intra-abdominal pressure followed by hematemesis. Mallory-Weiss tears occur near the gastroesophageal junction. Many patients with Mallory-Weiss syndrome have a history of alcohol intake. They account for 5 ％ to 15 ％ of UGI hemorrhages and male patients are affected more frequently than female patients. The bleeding usually resolves with conservative management, although endoscopic therapy may be required for patients with active bleeding.
