Autoimmune bullous diseases(ABD)refer to conditions in which autoantibodies against cell adhesion molecules impair cell−cell adhesion, leading to blister formation in stratified squamous epithelium. While skin lesions are common in ABDs, lesions can also affect the oral cavity, larynx, and esophageal mucosa due to autoantibodies targeting squamous epithelium. These lesions may present as erosions, ulcers, scars, and stenosis, and are often misidentified as esophagitis. In this study, we examined the endoscopic characteristics of esophageal lesions in ABD, particularly those resembling esophagitis. Endoscopic findings in ABD are diverse, ranging from erosions throughout the esophagus to scar-related stenosis. Epithelial fragility is a prominent feature and the Nikolsky sign is typically positive.
