Aim: To determine the effects of the quality of occupational experience and personal characteristics on turnover intentions among nurses working in hospitals.

Methods: The study analyzed 279 nurses working in an acute care hospital. A web-based questionnaire was used to determine turnover intention, personal characteristics, and quality of occupational experience of nurses. Descriptive statistics and univariate analysis were conducted. A multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted using turnover intention as the objective variable and personal characteristics and six subscales of the quality of occupational experience scale as explanatory variables.

Results: In their thirties, in their forties, and having a caregiver were significantly positively related to turnover intention, while having a child and experience in building a personal daily life while continuing to work were significantly negatively related.

Conclusion: Nursing managers should support nurses in overcoming individual challenges. They should also help nurses gain "experience in building a daily life that suits them as they continue to work" to prevent nurse turnover in hospitals.
