　I．緒言

　1959年，Lichtenstein ＆ Bernstein^1）は従来の軟骨肉腫とは異なり，腫瘍組織中に未分化紡錐状細胞よりなる病巣に加えて小島状に散在する分化した軟骨組織をもつ特異な組織像を示す2例をあげ，mesenchymal chondrosarcomaとして報告した。本邦における本疾患の報告は，われわれが渉猟し得た範囲では10例であり，ごく稀な疾患であると思われる。

　最近，われわれは病理組織学的にmesenchymal chondrosarcomaと診断された上顎腫瘍の1例を経験したので，その大要を報告するとともに若干の文献的考察を行なつた。

　A case of mesenchymal chondrosarcoma of the maxilla is reported with a review of the literature. The patient, a 29-year-old female, was treated by radical resection. The condition recurred twice after these operations. Upon each occasion the patient was treated by radical surgery. The disease has been effectively remitted 1.5 years after the last operation.

　Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma is rare in occurrence, only 75 cases have been reported in the literature.

　Histopathologically, the characteristic findings of this case are the proliferation of the round cells scattered among the islands of a well-differentiated cartilage.
