変形性関節症は，関節軟骨の変性を主体とする疾患であり，評価の手段としてMRI画像を用いた非侵襲的な軟骨定量化が試みられているものの，その評価には工夫が必要であり，多くの機関においては実臨床にて使用されるには至っていない。本稿では軟骨定量評価用のMRI撮像法のポイントと，関節軟骨を可視化する「MRIを用いた軟骨定量評価ソフトウエア」に関して概説するとともに，その臨床での利用について紹介する。
Software-based image analysis is important for studies of cartilage changes in knee osteoarthritis（OA）. We developed a semi-automated software to quantify knee cartilage volume on high-resolution knee magnetic resonance（MR）images. In this article, we refer to the points of MRI imaging for cartilage quantitative assessment and our developed software. This software has already been used in clinical studies.
