治療薬としてのPTH

Hormones and Cytokines in Bone Metabolism. Treatment of osteoporosis with PTH.

　現行の骨粗鬆症治療薬のうち，骨形成促進作用を有するものは副甲状腺ホルモン（PTH）のフラグメントであるテリパラチドのみである。治療薬としてのテリパラチドの作用は，生理的というよりも薬理的であり，単なるホルモン補充療法とは異なることを理解する必要がある。臨床的には，テリパラチドはファーストライン治療薬というよりは，適応を十分に検討した上で用いるべき薬剤であり，適正な使用が望まれる。

　Teriparatide is an only available bone anabolic drug in practice. It is a N-terminal fragment of parathyroid hormone（PTH）．Mode of actions of teriparatide is pharmacological but not physiological as it is administered to patients with osteoporosis. Physicians need to understand the fact that treatment with teriparatide is not just like a hormone replacement. They also should administer teriparatide to their patients after rigorous evaluation of its clinical superiority to other anti-osteoprosis drugs, because it is not classified as a first-line drug.
