虚弱（Frailty）とアンドロゲン

Role of Androgen in the Elderly. Frailty and androgen.

　高齢者における虚弱は，臓器機能，身体機能の低下などの加齢に伴う要因によって生じる老年症候群と考えられ，生命予後やADLへの影響が大きいことなどから，わが国においてその予防対策は重要な課題となっている。虚弱の重要な要因，背景としてサルコペニアが知られているが，高齢男性において加齢に伴う性ホルモン等の液性因子の変化が，サルコペニア，骨粗鬆症などの発症，進展に関与している可能性が明らかになってきている。 　本稿では，虚弱と男性ホルモンについて，サルコペニアや骨粗鬆症との関連性を含めて概説する。

　During aging process in men, decline of androgen level is involved in symptoms of late-onset hypogonadism, and recent findings suggest that it is also related to frailty, sarcopenia and osteoporosis. Frailty is one of the features of geriatric syndrome, and the prevention from frailty, sarcopenia and osteoporosis is important for keeping activities of daily living and quolity of life in elderly population.
