We report on the rehabilitation of a 60-year-old right-handed man, who presented diagnostic apraxia due to callosal infarction. At first, we prescribed regimens involving motion imagery and verbal self-regulation with only partial improvement. Thereafter, we administered a rehabilitation method of initiating left hand movements before right hand movements, and his action errors decreased. We hypothesize that the left hand movements without the right hand movements may activate ordinary potential motor engrams in the right hemisphere, thereby inhibiting the abnormal left hand movements following right hand movements. Repeated errorless learning of the left hand movements led to reorganization of the dominant motor network system in the right hemisphere, and reduced the abnormal left hand movements following right hand movements caused by diagnostic apraxia.
