 In 2012 in Prefecture B, a model project was started to develop a system to provide specialized community therapy to children with pervasive developmental disabilities. The purpose of this project was to evaluate the needs and effects of specialized therapy at day service facilities for children. In order to establish a presence in the community, the occupational therapist of day service facility for children participated in the project. Then the OT summarized project reports and highlighted the significance of specialized therapy and the role of the occupational therapist in day service facilities through the project. The project highlights the importance of community life support and cooperation with other specialists around the children and family.
