This study explores through interviews about life reconstruction experiences how disabled stroke survivors resume their occupations. The subjects were 4 female and 5 male stroke outpatients or users of day-care services between the ages of 40 and 80 years old. The subjects were interviewed, and the data was analyzed using the grounded theory approach. Six categories and 15 subcategories emerged. The first category was related to the lack of employment. That this lack of employment served as the trigger of resumption of occupations was a new finding.
