  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

For inactive people, exercise may seem like a counter-intuitive intervention for preventing or reducing fatigue, but studies have repeatedly confirmed the benefits of exercise not only on reducing fatigue, but also on improving physical capacity and emotional and physical aspects of quality of life. Preventing or reducing the level of treatment related fatigue and helping patients to maintain their independence and function during treatment, into survivorship and in the metastatic setting, may be one of the primary benefits of exercise during and following cancer treatment. Routine care of cancer patients undergoing treatment and following treatment needs to consider the maintenance of functional capacity as an important component of a comprehensive approach to patient care.
