  • Look Inside

As a part of studies on tonsils the presence of fibrinolytic activity in the circulation is particularly noted of. Observations were made on this phenomenon on 28 cases of tonsillitis, 31 cases of post-tonsillectomy and 14 cases following administration of Roeder's suction treatment.

No increase of fibrinolytic activity was seen in cases involved with chronic, follicular or acute tonsillitis; nor was there any such an increase by difference in the degree of the inflammation by intensity, length of time or complications.

However, the fibrinolytic activity was found to be increased in tonsillectomy cases 1 hour after the operation and in cases treated by Roeder's suction method invariably 5 minutes after the procedure.
