A CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE ON. THE DEVIATION OF NASAL SEPTUM IN ITS SUPERIOR PORTION
In eighty per cent of submucous resections generally performed for deviated nasal septum, the deviation at its superior portion is tsually left untouched. The authoi attaches a great significance to this fact from a clintcal poi t of view.
There are many cases in which the patient was completely relieved of his symptoms after a proper resection of the superior portion of the deviated septum, whereas, numerous operative treatments previously performed with submucous resection, turbinectomy and sinus operations have given no appreciable relief to the satisfaction of the patient. If there be a deviation the nasal cavity on the convox side of the septum would be exposed to infections by lack of proper ventilation and drainage with a least change of atmospheric pressure, moisture or dust.
