INFLAMMATION OF THE PETROUS PYRAMID
Authors report on eleven cases of petrositis with a proposal by one of them, Shoji Niho, that the term otitis media be renamed as to be known as Osteitis of the Temporal Bone or Osteitis Temporalia, and, that mastoiitis and petrositis be regarded as a local manifestation of a singular disease. In the classification of operative procedures the operation on the mastoid cells, perilabyrinthine structures or petrosal pyramid, authors propose, to be considered as a conservative operation on the temporal bone;while, combination of the either two or the whole three of them might be considered as a radical method.
