A case of uric acid nephrolithiasis accompa-nied by gouty arthritis is presented. There are a few previously reported cases of this condition in our country.
The patient, a 51-year-old male, suffering from severe pains on his right instep and re-current renal colic, showed left hydronephrosis and high blood serum uric acid concentration. Uric acid crystals and a trace of protein were constantly found in the urine and urine pH was always below 5.8.
Hydronephrosis and renal colic soon disap-peared after spontaneous excretion of a small uric acid stone.
