Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) following rupture of aneurysm is one of the significant factors that cause normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH).

The present study describes the mechanisms of NPH following SAH.

Clinical studies : Twenty-five patients suffuring from ruptured aneurysms were observed. After injection of 0.3-0.5mCi of Yb-169-DTPA (Yb) into the lumbar subarachnoid space, scintiphotos were taken at intervals of 1, 2, 6, 24 and 48 hours.
