新潟市における数種の慢性神経疾患および神経筋疾患の疫学的臨床的研究

Epidemiological and clinical study of several nerological and neuromuscular disorders in Niigata city

I．緒言

　従来本邦においては慢性神経疾患および神経筋疾患に関する疫学的研究はあまり行なわれていなかつた。ところが本邦においては多発性硬化症（以下M. S.と略称）を中心とする脱髄性疾患が少ないらしいということが問題となり，数年来米国国立神経研究所の援助により札幌，熊本，福岡，新潟の各都市においてその疫学的調査がなされた。我々も冲中教授，勝木教授の御指導により新潟地区を担当し調査研究する機会を得，なお引き続き筋萎縮性側索硬化症（以下A. L. S.）を中心とする運動ニューロン疾患（以下M. N. D）についても同様の調査研究を行なうことができた。我々はさらにその際，他の二三のこの種疾患にもこの方法を拡げ、その成績を本邦の他の地区および外国の研究と比較し，興味ある結果を得た。すなわちM. S.，M. N. D，脊髄小脳変性症、Charcot-Marie Tooth diseasc，myopathy，Parkinsonismなどについて得た結果は本邦におけるこれらの疾患の実態をうかがうに充分値するものと思う。

The results of the epidemiolgic survey of severalneurologic and neuromuscular diseases for a periodcovering 5 years from 1954 to 1958 in Niigata citywere reviewed. The data were collected from records of university hospital, 12 private hospitals and197 general practitioners in Niigata city. Finally533 cases were selected as a provisional cases outof 6,066 neurologic cases which were picked upfrom collected medical records. From the results ofexamined 358 cases and 5 cases which were accepted the diagnosis, prevalence rate and averageannual incidence per 100,000 inhabitants of severaldiseases were obtained, which support the viewthat multiple sclerosis and parkinsonism were lessprevalent in Niigata city and also in Japan than inNorthern America and Western Europe.
