2）神経結合からみた大脳基底核

Some aspects of fiber connections in the basal ganglia.

I．基底核の線維連絡の概要

　本シンポジウムで話題になった基底核は体性運動機能に関わる部分であったので，以下，背側線条体，背側淡蒼球，視床下核，黒質を中心に記載し，腹側線条体（側坐核），腹側淡蒼球，腹側被蓋野などは含めないことにした。

　従来，基底核をめぐる神経回路とは，太脳皮質から線条体（尾状核と被殻）が入力を受け，それらが基底核群の出力核である淡蒼球と黒質に送り，さらにこれら出力核からの投射を視床の腹側核群が中継して大脳皮質に送り返すものと考えられてきている。このうち基底核への入力は，大脳皮質の全領域が局在性をもって線条体に投射線維を送っている。たとえば，前頭葉は尾状核頭や被殻の吻部に，後頭葉は尾状核体から尾状核尾に，内側面皮質は尾状核内側部に，外側底部近くの皮質は被殻にというような投射部位局在がかなりはっきりしている。視床へ基底核出力線維を送るのは，淡蒼球では内節，黒質では網様部である。淡蒼球内節からの投射を受ける視床の核は，サルではVApc，VLo^18），VApc，VLa^5），VApc，VAdc^4）など腹側核群の吻部で，小脳からの入力受容域とは区別できるようである。髄板内核への投射も，これを経由して再び線条体に戻る系として重要である。もう一つの出力核である黒質網様部は，サルでは視床のVAmc，VLm，VM，MDに，ネコではVMに投射線維を送っている。

In the substantia nigra we have found peculiar arrangements of input fibers and output neurons by sectioning the midbrain parallel to the surface of the cerebral peduncle with some staining of tracer injections. Although the myelinated fibers in the substantia nigra are not massive, they make a few bundles running from rostromedial to caudolateral. High acetylcholinesterase activity, striatonigral and subthalamonigral terminals also makes 3~4 bands in the same direction. Nigral projection neurons to the thalamic ventromedial nucleus, superior colliculus, and pedunculopontine tegmental nucleus, again, are arranged into a few bands in the same rostromedial-caudolateral direction. The relationships among the band of input-output organizaticni, however, are still unknown.
