In vivo mapping and quantitative analysis of various kinds of neuro-receptors in living human brain have been available by using positron emission tomography (PET). For the dopaminergic neuron, selective radioligands such as 11C-SCH 23390 for D1 receptors, 11C-raclopride and 11C-N-methylspiperone for D2 receptors and 11C-nomifensine for reuptake sites have been developed. In addition to such receptor studies, measurement of disposition of 11C or 18F labeled DOPA and binding of irreversible MAO inhibitors (11C-clorgyline and 11C-deprenyl) are also available.
