  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Corticobasal degeneration(CBD)and progressive supranuclear palsy(PSP), which are neurodegenerative diseases with tau-positive structures in neurons and glial cells, have similar clinicopathological findings each other. But, there are the pathological findings to distinguish between PSP and CBD;tufts-shaped astrocyte and astrocytic plaque. They do not coexist in PSP and CBD, and the tufts-shaped astrocyte is characteristic of PSP and astrocytic plaque of CBD. However, the cases which contradict this pathological finding are reported one after another, and further examination seems to become necessary.
