We herein report short-term clinical outcomes of conformal external radiation monotherapy for patients with clinically localized and locally advanced prostate cancer at our institute. We treated 35 patients with T1-3N0M0 prostate cancer with conformal external radiation monotherapy and evaluated clinical outcomes of this treatment, including voiding status. During the 12~54 months follow-up period, the 3-year biochemical control rate was 83.5%. Univariate analysis showed that the time until the PSA nadir was associated with a higher probability of biochemical failure(p<0.0001). Patients with a longer time to PSA nadir experienced a better biological control rate than those with a shorter one. Ten patients(28.6%)had mild urinary frequency, and 4(11.4%)suffered from radiation colitis, but no patient needed transfusion. Conformal external radiation monotherapy for patients with T1-3N0M0 prostate cancer was shown to be effective in short-term observation.
