  • Look Inside

The drug eruption due to tetracycline in a patient who had had erythema exudativum multiforme over the entire body surface and recurrent attacks of stomatitis for 10 years was reported.

The eruption was a large erythema with irregular shape, on the center of which a flaccid bulla existed. He had a fever, stomatitis, and loss of appetite.

While drug ingestion tests of tetralysal and acromycine were positive, those of ledermycine and terramycine were negative.

Clinical picture of the lesion resembled very much to those of erythema exudativum multi-forme which the patient had had. It could not be determined whether the latter was the drugless drug allergy reaction by tetracycline in the food. However, there was a possibility that the patient might have shown the same manifestation by different kinds of agents.
