The current coronavirus disease(COVID-19)pandemic, caused by the transmission of the causative virus through aerosols, has significantly changed our lives. It is recommended to wear protective equipment to prevent the spread of the disease among close-contact individuals. However, as mask wearing and use of vinyl shields have become commonplace, people with hearing impairments face difficulties in communication in daily life. In this study, we investigated the effects of mask wearing and use of shields on speech recognition in patients with cochlear implants from our hospital.
