Abstract Purpose:Molluscum contagiosum(MC)is a common skin disease that is caused by infection with the MC virus. In the field of ophthalmology, MC usually occurs on the skin of the eyelid. We report an adult case with MC on his conjunctiva.

Case:The patient was a 46-year-old male. The chief complaint was a foreign body sensation in his left eye. His former physician pointed out a round white mass on his conjunctiva by slit lamp examination. As olopatadine and betamethasone eye drops were not effective in reducing the mass, the patient was referred to our hospital.

Results:The lesion was excised. Pathological examination showed intracytoplasmic eosinophilic structures, so called molluscum body, resulting in a diagnosis of MC.

Discussion:There are a few reports of conjunctival MC in patients with immunodeficiency. In this case the patient had a history of steroid ointment usage for atopic dermatitis on the eye lids. Our report suggests a possibility that the patients with atopic dermatitis may develop conjunctival MC.
