Abstract Purpose: To report changes in metamorphopsia before after surgery using M Charts® in eyes with epiretinal membrane.

Cases and Method: This study was made on 57 eyes of 55 patients who received surgery for epiretinal membrane in the past 15 months. Cases were classified into 4 groups according to Tsuchihashi system. Change in metamorphopia was evaluated by using M Charts®. Another series of 50 eyes were evaluated regarding best-corrected visual acuity before and after surgery.

Results:Metamorphopsia improved significantly after surgery for epiretinal membrane. Eyes showed no change in some group of Tsuchihashi system.

Conclusion:M Charts® was useful in the evaluation of metamorphopsia before and surgery for epiretinal membrane. State of epiretinal membrane seemed to be involved in the change in metamorphopsia after surgery.
