Serous Detachment of the Retinal Pigment Epithelium

緒言

　1967年Gass^1）がdisciform macular dege—nerationに属する諸種の疾患に，網膜色素上皮剥離（以下PEDと略す）を認め，特に漿液性中心性網脈絡膜炎（以下中心性網膜炎と略す）の発生，病理に大きな役割を演ずることを発表して以来，極めて重要な眼底所見として注目されるようになつた。

　PEDは中心性網膜炎のように上部の網膜組織に強い滲出性変化が存在すると，透見困難な場合があるが，上部の網膜に変化が少ない場合には，通常の直像鏡検査で容易に発見出来るものである。

Detachment of the retinal pigment epithelium is observed not only in cases of disciform ma-cular degeneration, especially of central serous choroidopathy, but in cases without these le-sions.

Fluorescein funduscopic findings show the fol-lowing characteristics : the fluorescent area ap-pears in arterial or arteriovenous phase, is cir-cumscrived in diameter, is of rough granular ap-pearance and shows little tendency to enlarge with time.

Treatment with photocoagulation of detach-ment of the pigment epithelium causes a com-plete cure.
