Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of morning glory syndrome who received surgery for retinal detachment. Case:A 41-year-old male presented with impaired visual acuity in the right eye since 2 months before. His right eye had had poor vision since childhood. Findings:Corrected visual acuity was 0.01 right and 1.0 left. The right eye showed total detachment with funnel-formation anterior to the disc. He was treated by vitreous surgery with silicone oil tamponade. The retina was redetached after silicone oil was removed 10 days after surgery. The retina became reattached after silicone oil tamponade with photogoatulation around the disc. Conclusion:There is a possibility that retinal detachment was due to presence of communication between the subretinal space and pit of the optic disc.
