Abstract. Purpose:To report the clinical features of central retinal artery occlusion. Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 35 eyes of 35 cases who visited us during the past 63 months. The series comprised 24 males and 11 females. The age ranged from 41 to 88 years, average 71 years. Cases treated within 6 hours after onset were classified as group A. The rest were classified as group B. Visual acuity was evaluated as logMAR. Results:Initial visual acuity averaged 2.61 in group A and 2.15 in group B. Final visual acuity averaged 2.10 and 1.73 respectively. There was no significant difference between two groups. Three eyes developed neovascular glaucoma. Two cases had diabetes and attenuated carotid artery. The other case was free of systemic disorders. Conclusion:Visual outcome was generally poor even after early start of treatment. Neovascular glaucoma needs due attention as a major complication during the course of observation.
