 The validity of conservative treatment for low back pain should be assessed by EBM. Many clinical studies of manual medicine and the McKenzie method have been conducted in Europe and the United States. AKA originated in Japan and was devised by Hakata. It has been applied to the treatment of low back pain. The technique of AKA, its scientific value, and comparisons with other forms of manual medicine and the McKenzie method are discussed in this paper. The conclusionis is that, AKA is a very effective method of treating low back pain.
