　大腿骨頚部内側骨折に対する骨接合術を緊急手術として行うことが，入院日数の短縮，歩行レベルの維持，痴呆の予防，術後合併症の予防に有用かどうかを検討した．対象は1998年以降に手術を施行し追跡可能であった44例（緊急手術群19例，待機手術群25例）．2群を統計学的解析すると，入院日数の短縮，歩行レベルの維持については有意差を認め，痴呆の防止，合併症の予防についても比較的良好な結果を得ることができた．術前のリスク評価やスタッフの配置などの問題はあるが，緊急手術は患者の予後を良好にする可能性がある．

　We investigated whether emergency surgery for femoral neck fractures is useful in terms of shortening hospital stay, maintaining ability to walk, preventing dementia, and preventing complications. Since 1998, 44 patients have been treated for femoral neck fractures in our hospital：19 underwent emergency surgery, and 25 underwent scheduled surgery. Emergency surgery was found to be useful in terms of shortening hospital stay and maintaining ability to walk. Emergency surgery involves certain problems, but may lead to a better outcome for patients.
