1992年にWHOがICD-10（International Classification of Diseases：国際疾病分類第10版）を発表し，また一方，APA（American Psychiatric Association：米国精神医学会）もDSM-IV（Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders第4版）出版の準備を進めている。そこで本誌では，Dr. Sartorius，Dr. Mezzichの両氏を囲んで，中根允文，高橋三郎，山下格の各氏に「精神疾患の新しい診断分類」についてお話し合いいただいた。
