  • Look Inside

Six surgically treated cases with aortic valvular disease having congenital bicuspid aortic valve arereported.

Three cases had pure aortic stenosis and the other three cases had pure aortic regurgitation. We had no cases of aortic stencsis with aortic regurgitation. Four cases were male and two cases were female. Three cases with pure aortic stenosis were all old, 67-year-old, 62-year-old and 60-year-old. On the other hand, three cases with pure aortic regurgi-tation were younger than those with aortic stenosis; 38-year-old, 47-year-old and 55-year-old.

Preoperative diagnosis for congenital bicuspid aor-tic valve were obtained only two cases by M-mode, twc-demensional echocardiography and cardiac ca-theterization. The other four cases, three cases with severely calcified aortic stenosis and one case with pure aortic regurgitation, could not be diagnosed.
