A clinical investigation of the operation rate and the recurrence rate was studied to clarify the relationship between the form of the intestinal lesion and the prognosis in 65 patients with intestinal Behçet's disease. We classified these patients by the form and location into 5 groups. I : punched-out ulcer in the ileocecal region, II : punched-out ulcer with multiple ulcers in the ileocecal region, III : multiple ulcers in the ileocecal region, IV : multiple ulcers in the colon except in the cecum, V : others. In our investigation, group II was the highest in both the operation rate and the recurrence rate. This result suggests that patients in this group are the hardest to cure, and need to be observed more carefully than others.

We also investigated the operation rate and the recurrence rate in 55 patients with Simple Ulcer. In this investigation, there were high rates in all groups. However, it is interesting that the recurrence rate of Simple Ulcer with aphthous stomatitis is much higher than that found in cases without aphthous stomatitis. This result suggests that Simple Ulcer with aphthous stomatitis is harder to cure completely.
