　症例

　患　者：U. K.　47歳　女

　主　訴：とくになし．

　家族歴：母が57歳で胃癌にて死亡．

　既往歴：21歳のとき虫垂切除術をうける．

　現病歴：昭和46年4月，耳下腺炎にて某病院に入院中，健康診断をかねてたまたま胃レ線検査をうけたところ，異常所見が見つかり，精査した結果，手術をすすめられて同年5月本院に紹介され入院した．とくに自覚症状なく，食欲は良好で体重減少も認められない．便通は1日1行規則的である．

　Case: a 47-year-old female. The x-ray, endoscopy and resected specimen showed a depressed type of gastric cancer with a partially bank-like protrusion on the posterior wall nearer to the greater curvature of the corpus. Histological examination of the protrusion revealed no cancer on its mucosal surface, but cancer invasion and considerable fibrosis within the submucosal layer were seen, and its invasion extended down to the muscularis propriae. Therefore, this case was advanced gastric cancer. It is interesting that the protrusion surrounding the depression suggested the depth of cancerous invasion in the gastric wall; and also that, though advanced, this case was unclassifiable by Borrmann's criteria, so that the macroscopic classification of early gastric cancer seemed more applicable to this case.
