食道癌，頭頸部癌の同時性重複癌の化学放射線療法

Chemoradiotherapy for squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus synchronously associated with head and neck cancer

化学放射線療法が施行された食道癌，頭頸部癌の同時性重複癌（synchronous carcinomas of the esophagus and head and neck：SCEHN）の治療成績の報告は少ない。今回，化学放射線療法が行われたSCEHNの治療成績を報告する。

We analyzed 12 patients with synchronous esophageal cancer and head and neck cancer who were treated by chemoradiotherapy. A median survival time was 18 months（range, 7-55 months）, and 2-year rate of overall survival was 42％. The acute toxicity was myelosuppression, with 7 patients experiencing grade 3 toxicity, including one case of death due to radiation pneumonitis. The local control rate in patients with stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ esophageal cancer was better than in patients with stage Ⅲ esophageal cancer. Synchronous carcinomas of the esophagus and head and neck had a poor prognosis even if chemoradiotherapy was performed. Esophageal cancer, which was a poor prognostic factor, needs to be detected in its early stages.
