Ultrasonography for evaluation of urolithiasis

尿路結石症は，生涯罹患率が12％，そして再発率は50％にのぼり，稀な疾患ではない．診断のアルゴリズムにおいては，急性側腹部痛を伴う患者に対する一次検査として，超音波検査は安全，迅速，そして非侵襲性に尿路結石の同定ができる手技であることより，推奨されている．もちろん，小児や妊娠女性に対しても，安全に行える検査であり，ストレスなく実施ができる．本稿では，超音波検査による尿路結石症の特徴的所見や，診断の問題点や落とし穴，さらに診断能を高めるための工夫について概説していく．

Urolithiasis is not a rare disease, with a lifetime incidence of up to 12% and recurrence rates of up to 50%.　In the diagnostic algorithm, ultrasonography is recommended as the primary imaging modality in patients with acute flank pain because it is a safe, rapid, and noninvasive technique allowing the identification of urinary stones.　Of course, ultrasonography is safe even for children and pregnant women, so we carry it out without any stress.　In this manuscript, we describe the characteristic US findings of urinary tract stones and review the diagnostic problems and pitfalls, and the methods for improving diagnostic abilities.
