2008年11月4日夜，CNNが米国史上初の黒人大統領誕生の速報を伝えた瞬間，わが家に近くの勝利演説会場から地響きのような歓声が届いた．この歓声は今も耳に残っている．時代の動きを肌で感じ，自分が米国にいることを実感した時であった．
