網膜色素変性症の両眼底に桑実様腫瘤が存在する症例を経験した.右眼の腫瘤は乳頭に接していたが左眼では網膜上にあり,optic discdrusenというよりはastrocytic hamartomaと思われた.
A 24-year-old male with retinitis pigmentosa manifested yellowish white tumors in the both fundi. The tumor showed a nodular, mulberry-like surface. It was located peripapillary, nasal to the disc RE and inferior to the disc LE. Smaller-sized tumors were also disseminated over the retina in both eyes. In view of the fact that astrocytes arepresent in the posterior retina, we thought the tumors not to be optic disc drusen, but resumably astrocytic hamartoma.
Astrocytic hamartoma is known to occur in patients with tuberous sclerosis or neurofi-bromatosis. Our case seems to indicate that astrocytic hamartoma may occur in association with retinitis pigmentosa.
