数年後に硝子体腔に侵入したバックル縫着糸

Buckle-sutured polyester thread intrusion into the vitreous three years after retinal detachment surgery

　1983年に左眼網膜剥離の手術（シリコンスポンジのエクソプラント）を行ったがその一つが結膜外へずれて出てきたため摘出した．1986年11月それまで見られなかった縫着糸が網膜より硝子体中に突出してみられたが，特に悪化の兆候はないためそのまま経過観察中である．

A 59-year-old female was treated for rheg-matogenous retinal detachment in her left eye. The retina could be reattaced using silicone sponge exoplants. Encircling procedure was performed with 2.5 mm sponge, meridian buckling with 3.0 mm sponge and radial buckling.

One year after surgery, a part of the meridian sponge slipped out of bulbar conjunctiva and had to be removed. Three and half a year after surgery, a 5-0 polyester thread fixating the silicone spongewas found to have intruded into the vitreous perforating the choroid and retina. While this intru-sion did not incur untoward consequences, due precaution seemed to be necessary in future detach-ment surgical procedures to avoid such incidents.
