光学顕微鏡用試料から作製された電子顕微鏡標本による病理診断—眼窩横紋筋肉腫の病理診断

Use of Formalin-Fixed Material for Electron Microscopy in a Case of Rhabdomyosarcoma

緒言

　光学顕微鏡レベルでの病理診断にさいして，各種特殊染色を施しても，なおかつ鑑別診断の困難なことがある。こういう場合に，電子顕微鏡用に固定包埋された試料があれば，電子顕微鏡によつて，発生母細胞や細胞の鑑別同定が容易になり，診断が可能となる。しかし，大抵の場合，電子顕微鏡用の固定包埋はなされていないし，それが当然である。このような場合には，鑑別しようとする細胞の特徴のみをみつける目的で，光学顕微鏡用試料から，電子顕微鏡用試料に作り変える方法がとられる。眼科領域では，AFIPのZimmer—man一派によるこうした試みがいくつか報告されてきた^1）〜5）。

　本篇では，光学顕微鏡用試料を電子顕微鏡用試料に作り変える方法^4）を紹介すると共に，著者の方法と症例を報告したい。

The techniques used to reprocess formalin-fixed wet tissue, or paraffin- or celloidin-embe-dded material for electron microscopy were described and discussed.

Electron microscopic examination of formalin-fixed material blocked in celloidin was of help in the evaluation of a case of embryonal orbital rhabdomyosarcoma without evidence of cross-striations by light microscopy. By electron mi-croscopy well-differentiated myofibrils were con-firmed.
