Abstract. Purpose:To report a case who showed impaired visual acuity after surgery for brain tumor. Case:A 49-year-old female presented with blurring of vision since 4 months before and with headache since one month before. Findings and Clinical Course:Her corrected visual acuity was 0.5 right and 1.0 left. Both eyes showed papilledema. Meningioma was detected and surgically removed. After temporary improvement, the visual acuity deteriorated to 0.08 right and 0.5 left 51 days after surgery. Both eyes showed pale optic disc and paracentral scotoma. Visual acuity improved to 0.2 right and 0.8 left 47 days after peroral vasodilator and neuroprotective agent. Visual acuity has been stable with 0.7 right and 1.0 left until present 3 years after surgery. Conclusion:The optic nerve may be damaged in brain tumor with papilledema and impaired visual function. Such a case needs careful follow-up and eventual treatment after apparently successful surgery.
