  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Priapism is a pathological penile erection, painful and persistent, unaccompanied by sexual desire. Neuroleptics have led the list of drugs that can cause priapism. The authors investigated the time courses of penile erections caused by chlorpromazine, levomepromazine or haloperidol intramuscular injection into rabbits (New Zealand White strain, males, aged 21 to 23 weeks, 2.5-3.1kg). Penile erections were evaluated by the length of uncovered penile mucosa.
