We examined the inter-rater reliability for Utena's Brief Objective Measures of 4 Axes for Psychic Function and Energy(UBOM-4)which is a new brief test battery for evaluating psychic function. In the present study, 5 raters conducted UBOM-4 tests on 20 healthy volunteers. Based on the 5 raters' results, ICCs were calculated for the pulse rate difference(PRD), ruler catching time(RCT), degree of randomness(DOR), and mean randomizing time(MRT). The consistency of judgment on drawings in the Baum Test was represented by the percentage of consistent judgment among the 5 raters. The calculated ICCs indicated 3 quantitative indexes(RCT, DOR, MRT)showed substantial consistency, and for the Baum Test the calculated percentages displayed almost perfect consistency(97%). PRD showed a slight consistency. We speculated the reason for low PRD consistency consists in its sensitivity reflecting the test situation. The authors proposed some procedures and conditions to improve inter-rater reliabilities of UBOM-4 to improve UBOM-4 use in clinical settings.
