軽症および中等症頭部外傷の10～20％の症例に意識レベルの増悪と昏睡状態への移行がみられ，そのうち7％においては外科的治療を要するといわれている。いったん重症化してしまうと予後はしばしば不良であるため，重症化する以前にその可能性を認識することが重要である。一見すると軽症もしくは中等症の頭部外傷が重症化に至るサインを見逃さないためには，頭部CTが重要な検査となる。

This paper reviews the application of dual energy CT（DECT）for the traumatic head injury by presenting clinical cases. Although CT has been known as the gold standard in diagnosis of head injury, it is often difficult to detect small lesions with single energy CT. Automated DE Bone Removal（BRCT）that we have proposed as well as Sn150kV image with DECT are typically useful tools for head injury diagnoses. This review was the short summary based on the educational poster at the 77th Annual Meeting of the Japan Radiological Society.
