要旨：精神科療養病棟において，顕著に陽性症状が残存し，現実的なコミュニケーションをとることが難しく，作業活動に注意を向けることができなかった60歳代女性の慢性期統合失調症患者に関わる機会を得た．作業療法介入として，6ヵ月間の園芸活動を提供し，毎日の水やり作業と週1回の植物成長記録ポスター作成作業を実施した．その結果，事例は作業療法士との現実的なコミュニケーションをとることができ，作業活動に取り組むことができるようになった．植物の成長を共有して関わることで現実的なコミュニケーションを促進し，園芸に関連した創作活動を取り入れ，動機を高められるよう設定したことが，作業活動への注意を高めたと考えられた．

　The case is a female in her 60s with chronic schizophrenia presenting severe positive symptoms, impeding realistic communication and attention to work activities. Occupational therapy intervention included the following horticultural activities:daily watering activities and creation of a weekly plant growth record poster for 6 months. As a result, the case was able to accumulate opportunities for realistic communication with occupational therapists and engage in occupational activities, indicating that sharing and engaging in plant growth promoted realistic communication. Furthermore, it was thought that incorporating creative activities related to horticulture and setting them to increase motivation activated attention to work.
