Leupeptin

はじめに

　酵素およびその阻害物質はすべての生命現象ならびにすべての病態現象と深いつながりを持っている。生体の動的平衡の乱れにより疾病が誘起されるが，また逆に疾病が動的平衡の乱れを惹き起すこともある。これらの現象に関与する酵素およびその阻害物質の働きを明らかにすることは，生体の制御機構ならびに疾病の機序を理解するとともに，直接あるいは間接的に治療面への重要なアプローチをもたらすことが期待される。

　セリン・チオール蛋白分解酵素に属する酵素は血液凝固系，フィブリン溶解（線溶）系，キニン形成系はもとより，炎症，補体反応，細胞増殖，細胞融合，発癌，癌転移および筋ジストロフィー症を含むさまざまの難病，さらに受精，ホルモン産生などの生体反応に重要な役割を果たしている。

Abstract

In organisms a large number of enzymes work in complicated networks contributing to various biological functions. When one wants to study the biological functions of the enzymes from various aspects, specific enzyme inhibitors can be very useful tools. They are also useful for studies of the reaction mechanisms and for the analysis of three-dimensional structures of enzymes. Moreover, they are of great value in elucidating disease pro-cesses and have a potential usefulness in the treat-ment of diseases.
