  • Look Inside

The ability of making a correct choice behavior among various options is crucial for animals' survival. Decision making requires continuous interactions between the brain and the external environments through information inputs and motor outputs. Thus, decision making provides a good place to study the computational principles of the brain, system that is open for information flow. To make decisions, the brain must analyze pieces of information about sensory inputs, the past memories of similar situations, and the outcomes predicted for behavioral responses. In this article, we review recent progresses in computational models of decision making, which were inferred from results of behavioral and physiological studies.
