ESD(endoscopic submucosal dissection)for EGC(early gastric cancer)seems to be technically mature. Regarding expansion of indication, according to positive results of multicenter prospective study(JCOG0607), expanded indication for differentiated-type(more than 2cm without UL, 3cm and less with UL)become absolute indication for ESD. Expanded indication for undifferentiated-type is also expected to become absolute indication after results of JCOG1009/1010 soon. After that, ESD indications for EGC will be completed. On the other hand, we should consider the indications for elderly patients.
